I was born in January of 1983 in a small south east town called Nederland Texas. I had the great responsibility of being the eldest of what would be five children in the McCallon family. Growing up in a family of seven was great, well it had its moments. I was raised in a good home with good parents who never stopped loving us. My three brothers and one sister and I were somewhat close, things actually got better the older we all got and matured a little more. I had what you would call a “normal” childhood. I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints where I stayed actively involved in youth activities until I graduated from high school. Graduation day actually came and went very quickly for me. It was life altering and somewhat disturbing to my daily routine, but nonetheless, it still came. I graduated on May 25 of 2001. I was tenth in my class out of one hundred and thirty roughly. I was in the National Honors Society and graduated with honors of course….all this though….it obviously meant nothing because I got no scholarships to school and ended up dropping out of college by the second semester after having surgery on my gall bladder. I know I know, too much information but I am just telling you how it is…Anyway after graduation I went on to do different things like working and becoming an “adult.” Nothing could have prepared me for adulthood more though than what followed just two years after getting out of high school. I met Shane in the LDS chat room on January 6 of 2002. Months of talking and emailing and long distance phone calls followed that day. We were finally able to meet in person on May 8 of the same year at the Houston Texas temple. It was obviously love at first sight literally because that was the first time seeing each other in person. Good thing I was thinner….anyway many other short trips to one another’s houses followed after that and sooner than you knew it, we were engaged and had a date of December 28 set. That day seemed as if it would never come really. I made the decision to move to San Antonio the August before we got married. It was what I would call a bitter sweet experience. Bitter because it was the first time I had ever lived away from home and sweet because I was moving closer to someone whom I loved. I came here to good ole San Antonio and got a job working at Brylane where I stayed for over a year and a half. I finally quit when I had another job opportunity come along to be an at home daycare provider. Shane has been in school non stop since before we were ever married and is very close to earning his associates degree in Print Graphics. We just added a new addition to our family. Bella is our three month old bundle of joy…I use the term bundle literally. She is the fattest and most fluffy thing I have ever seen; cute as a bug. She has made our home a very happy place and the laughs wont stop coming from us…she is entertaining. Well, as of right now in this moment, the Lord definantly has worked in mysterious ways for us. Though the daycare thing isn’t working out, I have since then been able to become employed at a bank working a good paying job with full benefits. I will be starting that soon in the next couple of weeks. Now we are thinking about starting a family of our own since Shane will be graduating school within the next year. Life is good for us and the Lord blesses us each and every day. I am thankful to Shane for loving me unconditionally and for putting up with me and the crap I can sometimes put him through (insert laugh here). To everyone who is reading this, don’t think I am corny because I already know I am… |
